On the floor of the Ethiopian Great Rift Valley, endowed with rich bird diversity, lies the beautiful Abijata Shalla Lakes National Park.
Abijata Shalla Lakes National Park is located in the central portion of the Ethiopian Great Valley, in Oromia Region, 207 km South of Addis Ababa via Hawassa asphalt road.
Established in1974 to conserve the spectacular number of aquatic birdlife. This attempt is part of the International efforts, mainly, USECO’s consultant made to protect wetlands of International importance for resident and migratory bird species.

The altitude of the park ranges from 1540 to 2075 meters, the highest peak being Mount Fike, which is situated between the two lakes.
